Axetris is all set to add an option of the EtherCAT interface to its high-performance mass flow meters and controllers.

EtherCAT (Ethernet for Control Automation Technology) is a real-time Ethernet network developed by Beckhoff. EtherCAT has gained steadily in popularity in the last years, and has become a leading Ethernet-based communication standard. The main reasons for EtherCAT’s popularity in many industrial applications are:

 

  • Extremely fast communication times with an ability to process up to 1000 distributed I/O signals in 30 µs or 100 axes in 100 µs using twisted pair or fiber optic cables
  • EtherCAT being an open standard that allows flexibility and low implementation cost
