Infrared Sources for Industrial & Safety Applications
Today a large variety of refrigerants such as Chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), Hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) and Hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs) are used in industrial and domestic air-conditioning products.
The monitoring of refrigerant gases for process control and safety is critical due to the ability of most refrigerant gases to have serious environmental consequences.
Gas sensors based on Non-Dispersive Infrared (NDIR) or Photoacoustic Spectroscopy (PAS) have the ability to detect such refrigerant gases even in small concentrations, thereby acting as reliable leak detectors.
