CO2 Automotive Refrigerant Monitoring


In the wake of an increasing realization about the harmful environmental effects of most automotive refrigerants, the automotive industry is looking for alternative refrigerant gases. A number of automotive OEMs have declared that they will increasingly shift to CO2 (R744) as the refrigerant with a relatively low global warming potential (GWP).

This global trend makes a reliable and quick detection of CO2 extremely important in automotive safety systems, especially to measure potential leaks. The advantages of NDIR technology to continuously measure for CO2 leaks from automotive refrigeration systems are numerous: a stable sensor performance, long lifetime and low detection limit are the most important advantages.
