Advancing LGD Compact for Hazardous Environments
The Axetris team continuously works to expand the capabilities and application range of the laser gas sensing solution. One of the milestones toward market introduction is progressing through the ATEX certification process for a new variant of the LGD Compact methane and ethane sensor platform.
The future LGD Compact ATEX is being developed to bring the proven performance of our laser-based gas sensing technology into applications located in hazardous areas, including Zone 1 and Zone 2 environments.
Addressing Emerging Market Requirements
The development comes at a time when regulatory and industry requirements for methane monitoring continue to increase. In particular, the EU Methane Regulation is driving greater demand for reliable measurement, reporting, and leak detection solutions across natural gas infrastructure.
Once certified, the LGD Compact will enable customers to deploy Axetris laser gas sensing technology in areas where explosive atmospheres may be present, helping system manufacturers and operators address applications that previously required alternative technologies or protection concepts.
Combining Safety and Performance
The upcoming product is designed to combine intrinsic safety concepts with the measurement performance of the existing LGD Compact platform. The goal is to provide customers with a solution that delivers the same proven TDLAS-based sensing capabilities while meeting the requirements for operation in hazardous environments.
In addition, the sensor is being developed with ease of integration in mind, allowing OEMs and system integrators to incorporate the technology into their systems with minimal redesign effort.
Looking Ahead
For customers developing gas detection, emissions monitoring, and leak detection solutions for hazardous-area applications, the future LGD Compact ATEX is set to open new possibilities while maintaining the precision and reliability that Axetris laser gas sensors are known for.
The ATEX certification process is currently underway while the product availability is targeted for Q1 2027. Contact our sales team for more information. The product is available for orders now.
